Irish EdTech startup Code Institute raises €1.2 million

Camp Institute, an Irish EdTech company, has raised €1.2 million in funding in an investment round led by Kernel Capital.  As part of the agreement, two new board members will join the team, including Orla Rimmington, a partner in Kernel.

Currently operating in four European markets, as well as the US, Canada and Singapore, Code Institute is planning to expand its operations in Europe.  Backed by Enterprise Ireland, Code Institute lists Facebook, Google, BT and Hubspot amongst its current list of customers.

The Covid-19 crisis has generated a surge in demand for remote learning coding courses.  Code Institute offers both part and full time full stack development courses.  These courses include modules on HTML, CSS, Javascript, Python and SQL and are university credit-rated.  It also offers a 5 day Coding Challenge which could prove very popular at this time.  Further details are available here: https://codeinstitute.net/5-day-coding-challenge/

“ We are hungry to accelerate our European expansion, and the investment will enable us to fuel our vision…The spread of Covid-19 around the world has led to an unparalleled education disruption which highlights the role of EdTech and the importance of online educators… ” Jim Cassidy, Chief Executive Officer

Code Institute is also a member of an Industry Advisory Council which consists of companies, recruiters, startups and leading academics.  The council validates the courses that Code Institute offers and therefore ensures that graduates are developing the skills needed to succeed in the workplace.  Other members of the council include Accenture, Paypal, Microsoft, Salesforce and Enterprise Ireland.

As well as being an advocate for Irish EdTech, Code Institute is seeking worldwide partnerships with other coding institutions and currently lists Intercom, Accenture, IBM, Twitch and Fenergo among its list of partners.
