VC firm Microtraction invests $25,000 in Nigerian EdTech company Gradely
Microtraction, a Nigerian VC firm has invested $25,000 for a 7% equity stake in EdTech startup Gradely. This is the first investment that Microtraction has made this year and represents its second in Nigerian EdTech overall.
Gradely offers an AI-based personalised learning platform which provides real-time feedback to parents. Currently being used in almost 70 schools, the platform delivers video lessons alongside regular assessment tasks, which gather data to alter learning paths for students.
In Nigeria, parents usually have to wait until report cards are released to gain feedback on how their children are performing academically. Gradely is hoping to disrupt this process by providing regular and ongoing feedback to parents via its adaptive learning platform.
“ Nigeria has repeatedly reported abysmal performances in the annual private West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE). Factors such as low access to quality education due to a dearth of funds in Nigeria’s education sector and low quality of learning resources, mean that students have a difficult time passing the core subjects like Mathematics and English Language…” Microtraction Spokesperson
Gradely recently received an award for providing The Best Adaptive Learning Solution of the Year at the inaugural edition of Edtech Summit Awards, organized by the Federal Ministry of Education and AFRITEX.
Founded in 2019, the Gradely team consists of five full-time team members:

“ To achieve this mission, we are providing the tools, content and people that can support the learning process of every student. We believe that with more real-time data and feedback on the learning process, it is possible for parents and their schools to notice each individual’s learning gaps and fill those gaps in more efficient ways.” Boye Oshinaga, Co-founder & CEO, Gradely Technologies
