EdTech Middle East Etisalat and Alef Education sign MoU

The announcement of a strategic partnership between Etisalat and Alef Education to develop EdTech in the Middle East was made during the recent Global Education Supplies and Solutions (GESS) Exhibition in Dubai.  Both parties signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) outlining the terms of the partnership.

Founded in 2015, Alef Education is now educating over 50,000 students in 151 public schools and 40 private schools in the UAE, 3 schools in USA and 1 school in Canada.  The platform incorporates AI to personalise learning and focuses on core subjects such as maths, science and English.  Feedback is provided in real time using machine learning algorithms.

Etisalat Digital, the business unit of telecom provider Etisalat, operates in the UAE and Saudi Arabia.  By partnering with Alef Education it will provide the necessary bandwidth and infrastructure for Alef Education to expand its platform to more schools in the region.

“ We are pleased to collaborate with Alef Education to empower the UAE’s and regions’ education sector in line with our overall strategy of ‘Driving the digital future to empower societies’. This programme will enable K-12 education institutions to have access to Etisalat Digital portfolio, including our IoT platform, cloud technologies, and managed services, to accelerate future learning with technology, connectivity and digital services. ” Abdulla Ebrahim Al Ahmed, Senior Vice President, Government Sales, Etisalat

Etisalat is planning to offer a range of advanced services including IoT, Cloud technologies and 5G networks to help any schools that use the Alef Education platform.

In September 2019, Alef Education signed a MoU with Microsoft with the aim of integrating Office 365 and Teams within its schools and to utilise an Azure datacentre which was installed in the UAE.
