Saudi Arabian EdTech startup Aanaab raises $1.5 million in seed funding
Aanaab, a Saudi Arabian EdTech platform has raised $1.5 million in seed funding. The investment round was led by Nour Nouf Knowledge Company and Wamda, with a number of other participating angel investors. Mounira Jamjoom launched the startup this year and she will combine her role as CEO alongside managing Emkan Education, an Education Advisory and School Development Company.
An Arabic language platform, Aanaab aims to provide training for teachers on pedagogy, assessment strategies and curriculum. The courses on offer are delivered in partnership with several accredited institutions, including Cambridge Assessment, Gallery and DQ institute. Students can enrol in courses for free, though upon completion, a fee needs to be paid to print certificates. Over 37,000 teachers are currently enrolled in courses from across Arabia.
The grapes platform encourages teachers to connect via various social media apps including Instagram, Twitter, YouTube and Facebook. Examples of courses include Growth mindset, Digital intelligence, Modern teaching methods, Differentiation and Teaching skills in the 21st century. The learning resources within courses are organised as follows:

- Evaluation tasks
- Additional help resources
- Certificates of completion
- An interactive community

The investment will be used by Aanaab to expand its platform and their strategy is to draw upon a Singaporean model, which involves offering 100 hours of professional development to teachers each year.
