JPMorgan Chase has donated a $300k grant to Delaware Tech to purchase laptops and Chromebooks for students
Delaware Tech has received a $300k grant from JPMorgan Chase to buy laptops and Chromebooks for students. Since the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, it has become apparent that many families lack the necessary hardware to access the courseware which has been posted online by Delaware Tech. Research published by JP Morgan Chase Institute identified that 65% of families lack the cash buffer to survive a simultaneous reduction in income.
Any students enrolled in credit or short term certificate programs will be eligible to receive a Chromebook or laptop. The donation will also fund a virtual boot camp training session for 38 faculty members. This will involve learning how to shift courses online and use various tools to support online learning.
“ We are grateful to JPMorgan Chase for once again stepping in to help Delaware Tech provide essential services to our students… This grant will help our faculty to deliver the high-quality education that our students expect and deserve. And it will allow us to provide our students and alumni with enhanced access to career and employment resources. We know this award will have far-reaching benefits for our state. ” Mark T. Brainard, President, Del Tech
Delaware Tech is planning to host a virtual career fair for students and provide support to alumni that are currently unemployed. Healthcare and education will be promoted as fields in which students could obtain employment in the coming years.
