International School of Engineering (INSOFE), an applied engineering school specialized in data science education and research from India, partners with Colombia-based venture capital studio Latin Leap. The partnership seeks to drive further international expansion of INSOFE in Latin America and provide students in the region with greater access to data science education.
INSOFE is the only private institution in India whose courses are considered to be the equivalent of a master’s program most universities conduct worldwide. Their partner universities have done their due diligence on the INSOFE faculty and curriculum and agreed to use the INSOFE course as an equivalent credit in their master’s programs. INSOFE offers comprehensive student programs in all areas of big data analytics and data science, with certifications ranging from bachelor’s degrees to PhDs.

Their unique collaboration with world-class universities across the US, Canada, and Europe also place them in a prime position to deliver high-quality data science education to enhance data literacy in Latin America, a region whose education sector is lagging behind.

According to UNICEF, there are 14 million children and adolescents in Latin America and the Caribbean outside of the education system. The World Bank also reported that while the number of students in higher education programs has nearly doubled in the past decade across the region, only half of them are graduating on time. This highlights a huge gap in terms of the efficiency and quality of education. A recent study done by Stanford University revealed that most countries in the region consistently ranked below average in terms of data science and technological abilities. However, the appetite for data science education in the region has been steadily growing, and the Covid-19 pandemic has accelerated the demand for relevant skills.

As an increasing number of top-tier universities in Latin America begin to introduce full-fledged and part-time courses in data science and machine learning, there is a growing opportunity for international schools and universities to partner with local education providers and introduce their world-class programs to Latin American students.

Latin Leap, a newly formed Venture Capital Studio focused on opening up opportunities in Latin America for Asian tech-scale ups and aims to become a key pillar for supporting the strengthening of the region’s tech sector.

INSOFE’s student programs range from part-time certifications to doctoral degrees in data science, artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, data and business analytics, engineering, and more. While most of INSOFE’s programs are delivered through physical classroom sessions, the school has rolled out virtual programs in conjunction with local and international universities in light of Covid-19 restrictions and precautions. INSOFE also delivers enterprise solutions, including corporate programs, consulting services, and access to talent.
